Jurassic World Could Have a New Movie in the Works with Scarlett Johansson’s Return

New reports indicate that the Jurassic World franchise may be preparing a brand-new movie, once again placing Scarlett Johansson at the forefront of the cast.

Although the last installment of the Jurassic World saga sparked mixed opinions, it achieved massive box office success, becoming the fourth highest-grossing film of 2025 so far, with over $855 million worldwide.

With such impressive numbers, it’s no surprise that the franchise is looking to expand further—especially now that a new storyline has begun with a fresh cast, led by Scarlett Johansson.

Rumors suggest that Universal Pictures is already developing a new sequel to Jurassic World: The Rebirth.

A New Jurassic World Sequel on the Horizon?

According to insider Daniel Richtman (via The Hollywood Handle), a new Jurassic World film may indeed be in the works, with Scarlett Johansson returning as the lead star.

In Jurassic World: The Rebirth, Johansson plays Zora Bennett, an undercover operations expert tasked with leading an expedition to retrieve genetic material from the three largest dinosaurs on Earth, with the goal of developing a groundbreaking drug that could save millions of lives.

However, midway through the mission, the team encounters a stranded family. Both Zora and her group end up trapped on an island, where they uncover a dark secret that has remained hidden for decades.

For now, this information remains unofficial, so we’ll have to wait for Universal Pictures to confirm the new sequel. Still, signs strongly suggest the project is moving forward.

Jurassic World: The Rebirth was released in theaters on July 4, 2025, and as of September 9, the film is now available on physical media.
