Despite not garnering the same acclaim as the 2018 reboot, God of War Ragnarok was still an epic sequel worthy of all the praise it received. Naturally, many fans are wondering what the next steps will be for Santa Monica's hit franchise — but the answer to that is still unclear.
However, even with the lack of clarity on where the God of War franchise might go in the future, social media is abuzz with fan speculation — and some of the theories make a lot of sense, to be honest.

After God of War Ragnarok, players see Kratos finally accepting his role as a god in this world while Atreus journeys to an unknown destination.
The Valhalla DLC, which arrived later and for free in the game, served as a divine and intensive therapy for Kratos. The expansion even allowed the god of war to accept the past and make peace with the bloodthirsty man he once was.
During the events of the DLC, Sigrun, the queen of the Valkyries, says that the Norse world has been turned upside down by political struggles for power. As many know, Freya was tasked with putting things back on track and making Kratos her leading commander.

With this information in mind, it is possible to visualize some scenarios for the future of the God of War franchise. The first of these would be a game with Freya as the protagonist and trying to bring back the glory days of Norse mythology — indeed, with some iconic villain from this folklore or an event strong enough to justify a game with the character.

The second scenario
could be based on the end of the DLC, where the Spartan forgives himself for
his past sins. Here, Kratos could finally accept the title of Norse god of war,
but at peace with himself and in a wiser and more benevolent version — also driven

▪ A new adventure with Atreus in another mythology
Finally, the third scenario could focus on Atreus' journey into the unknown, showing his path to transcendence as a god, just like his father.
It's not yet clear where Atreus went, but it would be cool if he had traveled to the lands of Egypt to face the big shots of this mythology — as many speculate out there. Remember that his real name is Loki, so there may be some big plans for him in the future.
Of course, all of the above information is mere speculation, but raising this debate about where the God of War franchise could go is interesting. So don't take everything written here literally.
