Samsung released its financial results for the second quarter of 2024 on Tuesday night (30), revealing a surprise: the giant confirmed that it is working on the Exynos 2500, expected to be the processor for part of the Galaxy S25 family. More information about the component needs to be published. Still, it appears that the solution will adopt the giant's 3 nm manufacturing technology, entering an advanced production phase in the second half of this year.
The released report also provided exciting details about the Galaxy S24 line sales. The company highlighted that the Exynos W1000, the chip used in the Galaxy Watch 7 and the company's first 3 nm solution, was well received. As a result, more customers would be interested in producing processors with Samsung, with the expectation of an expansion in production from the second half of 2024.
The South Korean company confirms that it is working on the Exynos 2500 for premium smartphones and claims to have plans to guarantee a stable platform supply. Although not mentioned directly, the statement suggests that the processor, expected to power the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus, will also use 3 nm lithography. The main benefits of the technology include lower energy consumption and lower temperatures.
The confirmation is
surprising because it arrived weeks after rumors suggested that Samsung was
facing difficulties in developing the new Exynos. Manufacturing yield reached a
rate of 20%, which means that, among all the chips produced, only 20% of them met
the company's requirements. To have healthy production, a component needs to
reach at least 60% to 70% yield.

The same rumors also indicated that the brand was looking for ways to improve the situation, something that must have been achieved, given this week's announcement. If it manages to overcome the obstacles, the giant may have an up-and-coming project in hand, as sources from several Korean portals point out.
Thanks to the use of 3 nm lithography, the Exynos 2500 could achieve a very high level of energy efficiency. These advances would be enough to give work to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which is also expected to offer a big leap in efficiency.
Other than that, the South Korean company's bet is to employ a Google Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) to boost Artificial Intelligence performance and better integrate Android's AI resources.
Now that it has
been confirmed, the Galaxy S25's premium platform should begin to receive more details,
both officially and in new leaks. The debut should take place later this year,
followed by the launch of the Galaxy S25 in early 2025.
