Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be thinner than Galaxy Z Fold 6, according to leak

According to a leak, the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

A few days before launch, the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold has just appeared in a vast leak with various information. The foldable device will be thinner than its main competitor, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and feature facial recognition unlocking on both screens.

The information was revealed through leaked advertising materials, highlighting the device's thickness of just 5.1 mm when it is open. For reference, the rival produced by Samsung is 5.6 mm under the same conditions.

The other dimensions revealed that the Google model will be slightly larger than the Samsung one, measuring 155.2 x 150.2 mm when opened. For comparison, the Z Fold 6 is 153.5 x 132.6 mm.

These dimensions are consistent with the expected increase in the internal screen of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which should reach 8 inches with a broader construction. The external panel will be 6.3 inches, the same diagonal size as the Z Fold 6.

Even though it must still be one of the heaviest foldable cell phones on the market, Google managed to improve this aspect by 10%. As a result, the smartphone should weigh 257 grams, compared to 239 grams for the Samsung device.

Face Unlock, a facial biometrics service, will be available on the two selfie cameras, which will have 10 MP. The objective is to speed up the unlocking of the smartphone, regardless of the format in which it is positioned.

The new images also reaffirm that the device will have the most significant visual changes in the Pixel 9 line, with a new camera module with a less wide format and two pill-shaped sections to house the lenses.

Another new feature will be the return of the so-called VPN By Google, a VPN service exclusive to the company's cell phone line.

Furthermore, the new leak reaffirms other features that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will have, including:

Screen with a maximum brightness of 2,700 nits and up to 1,600 nits in HDR content (1,800 nits on the external screen);

Tensor G4 and Titan M2 processor for privacy and security;

Up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage;

48 MP primary camera, 10.5 MP ultrawide and 10.8 MP front camera;

Built-in artificial intelligence (AI) features in cameras, such as Magic Editor,

Add Me (which adds people to group photos) and Best Take (to group the best facial expressions in the same group photo);

Circle to Search for dynamic searches.

The launch of the new Pixel 9 line is scheduled for August 13th, but the likely price for the Pro Fold has already been leaked. The device should cost US$1,799 for the 256 GB version and US$1,919  for the 512 GB model—therefore, there are no changes compared to the previous generation.
