♦ Emily in Paris (2020)
Emily in Paris, a Netflix original series, tells the story of Emily Cooper (Lily Collins), a young marketing executive who leaves Chicago behind after receiving an unexpected job opportunity in Paris. Although she is about to live her dream, Emily soon realizes that change brings unforeseen challenges. From the language barrier of not speaking French to the difficulty of making friends and the confusion in her romantic relationships, Emily must find the balance between her career and personal life to make the most of her experience in the City of Lights. The journey becomes a little easier when Emily befriends Mindy Chen (Ashley Park), a Korean nanny pursuing her dreams in Paris. ♦ American Murder: Laci Peterson (2024)
Director Skye Borgman, known for "The Girl in the Picture," presents an in-depth analysis of the murder of Laci Peterson, a beloved young woman who disappeared on Christmas Eve 2002 when she was eight months pregnant with her first child. This disturbing case shocked the country and dominated the news. As events unfolded, Laci's husband, Scott Peterson, was indicted for her brutal murder, although he continues to maintain his innocence to this day. Twenty years after Scott's conviction, this three-part documentary series offers a new perspective on the disappearance, investigation and trial, using never-before-seen clips, interrogation footage and courtroom recordings. In addition, the series features interviews with detectives, reporters, lawyers and jurors, who recall their experiences during the case.
A conversation with Amber Frey, the woman with whom Scott had an extramarital relationship at the time of Laci's disappearance and whose collaboration with the justice system was crucial to advancing the investigations, is also highlighted. For the first time since the loss of her daughter, Sharon Rocha, together with three of Laci's childhood friends, share their memories and talk about the devastating impact of this crime on their lives.
